Ellis Gallion grew up in southern Indiana and competed in basketball, cross country, and track and field while attending a rural high school in Brownstown, Indiana. He was a four year letter winner in both cross country and track.
Prior to joining the staff at Granville Christian in 2016 as a coach and Bible teacher, Gallion ran collegiately at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, competing in cross country for four years, and track for two years. He currently holds the MVNU school record in the steeple chase, and while an athlete his positive attitude was recognized with the awarding of the Cougar Award.
“Athletics are important for students because they allow for opportunity,” said Gallion. “They are the perfect chance to work hard and earn something. Plus the feeling of accomplishment that goes along with knowing that you achieved your goal is unparalleled.”
As Athletic Director, Gallion sees a lot of potential for continued success in GCA’s athletic programs because they are based on a strong foundation of mentoring and winning traditions. His passion for coaching brings a high energy to practices and competitions, which in turn motivates his student athletes.
“I aspire to invest in my athletes so that they are able to achieve their greatest potential,” Gallion said.
Granville Christian has been providing a Christ-centered education for Kindergarten through 12th-grade students since 1997. In its faith-based environment, Granville Christian offers a college prepatory academic curriculum, community service projects, and a nine-sport athletics program to children throughout Licking County and its neighboring communities.
